Data Triage

When the file itself — not just the conversion — is the problem.

Some QuickBooks Desktop files aren't ready for a standard evaluation because the file is the issue: it's grown too large, it's carrying data damage, or it's simply holding years of history you don't need in QuickBooks Online. Data Triage is a dedicated evaluation of exactly what it will take to clean that file up — so you go into a conversion with a leaner, healthier file instead of dragging the same problems into QBO.

Do you like surprises? We don't. A huge or damaged file is exactly where surprises happen — an unknown amount of cleanup, discovered halfway through a conversion. Data Triage finds that out first, in writing, with a real number attached.

When you need Data Triage

Large file size

Your file is approaching or beyond roughly 4 million targets — the range where both day-to-day performance and a clean conversion get risky.

Data damage

Verify/Rebuild errors, corrupted lists, or transactions that keep the file from condensing or converting cleanly as-is.

Unneeded history

Years of transaction detail you don't need carried into QuickBooks Online — you'd rather start with a leaner file than everything since day one.

Your options, once we know what we're working with

The goal isn't to force one fix — it's to clean the file up enough that you have real choices about what to do with it. Depending on what Data Triage finds, that usually looks like one of three paths:

    Fix the underlying data damage so QuickBooks' built-in Condense (Clean Up Company Data) utility runs smoothly — keeping your data detail intact.

    Shrink / purge

    A more aggressive file shrink or purge pass, for files that need more than a standard condense to get to a workable size.

    Start fresh

    Create a brand-new file with your existing lists and current balances — the leanest possible starting point in QBO, with old detail left behind on purpose.

Data Triage is the evaluation itself — the work of digging into your live desktop file and coming back with an accurate quote for the time and cost to actually clean it up, plus a game plan for doing that work with as little downtime as possible.
